Tanzania
India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi arrived in Tanzania on Sunday on the third leg of his four-nation tour of the continent.
He was received by Tanzania’s President John Magufuli together with other government officials in the country.
Modi’s trip is meant to raise India’s profile in energy, trade and investment in Africa, where China’s presence has been strong.
“One, deepen our partnership in agriculture and food security, including to enhance export of pulses from Tanzania to India. Two, work together in development and use of natural gas,” said the Prime Minister.
The two leaders signed different agreements and have agreed to work closely, bilaterally, regionally and globally to combat the twin threats of terrorism and climate change.
Modi began his tour in Mozambique and South Africa and is currently in Kenya.
